Join us for our January meeting of the Schantz MakerSpace at the Romich MakerSpace.
Our presenter this month will be Gavin Maibach, a former participant in one of our 3D printer classes while he was in high school. Since then, Gavin has graduated and is now working professionally as a machinist. He will share his personal journey, including the challenges he has overcome along the way. His story highlights why we do what we do at the MakerSpace—supporting learning, skill-building, and opportunity through hands-on experience.
Gavin will also share some of his ideas as we prepare for an exciting transition later this year, when the MakerSpace moves into Barry’s larger facility.
In addition, we’ll provide an update on our efforts to develop a beginner-level laser engraver class. We’ve been evaluating lower-cost, entry-level machines to make learning accessible to newcomers. We are currently working with the Genmitsu KORTX laser engraver and hope to have more to demonstrate at this meeting.
