September Maker Monday Meeting - Change in Location

Join us for our next Schantz MakerSpace meeting on Monday, September 15, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. We will meet at the Apple Creek Maker Space, which is located in the Apple Creek Historical Society building. The address is 185 Church Street, Apple Creek Ohio, 44606.

Mike Buss will be demonstrating the new laser engraver that they have .  This will be an interesting meeting in that their  machine employs a new technology and Mike will show us how it can be utilized..

We will also take a fascinating look at a collaborative project to bring a legendary video game tool to life—the Poltergust 5000!

In the Luigi’s Mansion series, the Poltergust is a ghost-busting vacuum cleaner designed to capture spirits. Jacob Bozman is taking that concept into the real world by modifying a Bissell 2154A vacuum, swapping its motor with one from a cordless Hypertough shop vac, and designing custom parts to replicate both the function and the appearance of the in-game prop.

This ongoing build is nearing completion, with a goal to finish by mid-October in time for a convention in Sharonville (near Cincinnati). Along the way, challenges like extended 3D print times, motor integration, and design refinements have turned this into a true maker collaboration—where your input, skills, or ideas could help push the project over the finish line.

Come see how a standard household vacuum is being transformed into a working prop tool for ghost hunting. Whether you’re into prop-making, 3D printing, electronics, or just love creative builds, this is a presentation you won’t want to miss!

We also invite anyone who has taken our 3D printer build class and run into challenges to bring their machine. Our instructors will be available during the second half of the meeting to help troubleshoot and share solutions. The MakerSpace also offers spare parts, supplies, and other resources to keep your projects moving forward.
